MY PAMPERING SKINCARE ROUTINE

Happy weekend everyone and welcome back to the third installment in my skincare series!  If you missed out on my first two posts you can check out my morning skincare routine HERE and the nighttime edition HERE.   Today we’re going to talk all about pampering.  The products featured below will make you feel like a princess, keep your skin in check, and focus on ameliorating any problem areas.   Get your bubble bath running and a glass of vino ready…we’re all about the pampering today.

The first thing I want to highlight is face masks.  I love to do a face mask once or twice a week and find the right treatment is great at unclogging pores and reviving tired skin.  I have tried so many (it’s embarrassing how many) face masks over the years and the three above are my all-time favorites.  My go-to mask to use before a big event is the Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask for its immediate results.  This hydrating treatment instantly reveals healthier and firmer looking skin and leaves my face with an enviable glow.  Although directions suggest leaving this mask on cleansed skin for 5 to 10 mins I like to leave this lychee seed and black tea ferment infused formula on overnight for added benefit.  Another favorite is the LUSH Cosmetic Warrior Mask.  I have tried almost all of the LUSH fresh face masks and the infamous Mask of Maganaminty, but I keep coming back to Cosmetic Warrior again and again.  This mask is the most affordable of the bunch at only $7.95 and the concoction filled with egg whites, honey, and garlic does an amazing job of tightening up pores and cutting down on oil production.  (Which is awesome since my face seems to resemble a disco ball by mid-day living in Florida.)  Now I will warn you this mask sells horrible…I’m not kidding, think wet dog mixed with rotten eggs…but the results are worth it, I promise.  Last, but not least in the mask category is the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Deep Pore Cleansing Mask.  If you are looking for a good clay mask to exfoliate, unclog pores, and tackle black heads look no further.   The powder formula is instructed to be mixed with apple cider vinegar and left on the skin for 15-20 mins.  With over 4,000 five star reviews on Amazon it seems other people are just as in love with this mask as I am, it’s that good.  And the best part is it’s $8 and the jar is huge!  A jar easily lasts me a year.

Another favorite treatment is good ‘ol Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips.  I tend to get black heads on my chin and nose and find these handy strips are great at gently extracting built-up dirt and oil from my pores.  I also love to do a lip scrub weekly and my favorite is the Mint Julips Sugar Scrub by LUSH Cosmetics.  This all-natural scrub is affordable at $9.95 and does a wonderful job at buffing away flaky skin on my lips.  (Just don’t forget to follow up with a moisturizing balm afterwards!) Dry chapped lips and bright lipstick don’t mix so now is the time to pick up a great lip scrub to prep our lips for those vampy berry shades of fall.  Now this post wouldn’t be complete without addressing the dreaded elephant in the room…acne.  What do I do when I feel a spot cropping up?  I reach for The Body Shop’s 100% Natural Tea Tree Oil.  I love that this formula is fair trade and doesn’t have any fillers or nasty additives mixed in and I like to saturate a q-tip in the oil and apply to any spots or problems areas.  I love to use tea tree oil as a spot treatment because it doesn’t dry out my skin and effectively reduces the size of blemishes while evaporating redness. I actually did a post on all the amazing ways you can use tea tree oil and you can check out that post HERE.

I know what busy lives each of us leads and I hope this post encourages you to take some time out of your upcoming week to pamper yourself.  Be it a great mask, a manicure, or relaxing bubble bath it's such a delight to take a break and treat ourselves sometimes.  I hope you try some of the products I mentioned above, I just know you will love them as much as I do, and let me know your favorite pampering product in the comments below!

xoxo Nicole
