PRODUCT EMPTIES: VOL. 2

Empty Products Review
product review beauty skincare

Well it's that time again.  The hour of reviewing my empty products, aka my trash.  I love reading other bloggers posts similar to this, because I feel like you can really review a product when you use it through to the last drop.  This round features a little bit of everything; a couple makeup items, some skin care and a few bath & body products.  I hope you enjoy this post and keep reading to find out what I would repurchase and what I would skip!

As you can tell from the picture above this stash includes three body butters.  I go through a lot of lotion, ok?  Two are from The Body Shop and let me tell you, I never met a Body Shop Body Butter I didn't like.  The two here are in the scents 'Moringa' and 'Strawberry' and leave my skin as smooth as a baby's bottom. (The Strawberry variety smells amazing!) The other body butter was purchased at Ulta and is from the brand Tree Hut in the scent ‘Mango.’  This one was ok, but lighter and less moisturizing than the Body Shop Body Butters. On the topic of hydration, I also finished a Jergens 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer.  I bought this on a whim at Target hoping it would give a little color to my ghostly limbs and was attracted by the $9 price tag.  It did the job, but as most of you know these Jergen tanning lotions kind of stink and the color they give is subtle.  If you have a somewhat irrational fear of fake tanners (not that I’m talking about myself or anything) this is a great product to dip your toe in the pool.  It’s super subtle and hard to mess up.  A quick tip is to make sure you really rub this in, I found if I wasn’t cognizant of this I would notice some blotchiness around my knees and ankles.  Chugging along on the moisture train I  also finished a tub of the PONDS Dry Skin Cream.  I am obsessed with this stuff and have already purchased another jar.  It is one of the best moisturizers for dry skin on the market and gentle enough for even the most sensitive of skins.  A tub of this will last you at least 6 months, maybe more, and the best part is it only costs $5!  Expect a more thorough post on my love for this face moisturizer soon...  Now all of this moisturization would be futile without a great scrub.  And The Body Shop Shea Body Scrub is a great one.  This pot of gold smells amazing, buffs away dead skin, and leaves skin feeling moisturized since it's packed with soy oil and shea butter.  For a full review on this scrub click HERE

My love for LUSH Cosmetics runs deep and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the infamous 'Mask of Magnaminity' face mask.   Being that this product is raved about in the blogging community I was expecting to love it, but I was left a bit underwhelmed. This china clay mask is chock full of fresh peppermint and aduki beans to exfoliate and unclog pores.  I found it to be ok, but too gentle for my liking and nowhere as effective as the GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD mask that is also popular on the market.

In this round of empties I also finished up two makeup products.  The first is a Sephora Smoothing & Brightening Concealer.  I have used this highlighting pen for years and it is a great dupe for the MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter ($14 vs. $26).  This product does a great job of covering up dark circles while brightening up the under eye area at the same time.  It can be a little tough to blend so I would recommend using this with a beauty blender or real techniques complexion sponge, that’s personally my favorite way to use this.  And for reference this product is much thicker in consistency than other highlighting pens on the market such as the YSL Touché Éclat.  And last but not least for this round of product empties is a pot of bareMinerals Original Foundation in the shade 'Light.'  This was the first real face makeup I ever used and I'm a ride or die fan.  It provides such natural coverage, is easy to apply, doesn't irritate my skin, and I love using it for an every day easy makeup look.  Need I go on?...I love this stuff.  I'm a fan of powder foundations in general, but this is my favorite on the market.

So final verdict, what would I repurchase on this list?  Well I admit I kind of cheated and already bought a new Sephora Smoothing & Brightening Concealer, a replacement bareMinerals foundation, and a new Jergens 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer (summer is coming, you feel me?)  I would not repurchase the LUSH Mask of Magnaminty or the Tree Hut Body Butter and will probably hold off on purchasing any more Body Shop items until I go through my current stash.  Hope you enjoyed this round of product empties and that you are having a great week!  If you have any products that you’ve recently used up and plan on re-purchasing let me know in the comments below!!

xoxo Nicole
