Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré
French Face Cream
Embryolisse face cream tube
Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré

A couple weeks back I shared a post on my love for the Fresh Black Tea skincare line and how much I adored their Black Tea Age-Delay Cream as a night moisturizer.  (Check that post out HERE) As much as I loved these additions to my skincare routine I was still on the hunt for a great morning face cream.  After hearing great things on YouTube, beauty blogs, and learning this is Gwyneth Paltrow's face moisturizer of choice (she looks amazing, if she uses it I'm buying it) I bit the bullet and ordered the Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré.  This French moisturizer has been a cult favorite since it's debut in 1950 and it's quite the skincare multi-tasker.  It can be used in its most popular form as a face cream, but also doubles as a makeup remover, a post-shave soother, and as a primer for makeup.  You will find a well-loved tube of Embryolisse in almost every makeup artist's bag and for good reason.  This product is well received on even the most sensitive of skin and it absorbs quickly without leaving behind a tacky or oily residue.   This cream is rich without being heavy and is chock full of skin loving ingredients such as shea butter and aloe vera. This product is also paraben and sulfate free, not tested on animals and has a very mild scent.  It really is the perfect base for makeup.  My skin absolutely loves this stuff and I have a feeling it will be a standby in my skincare routine for years to come.

You can purchase this skincare wonder through Amazon, Sephora, and Birchbox.  The only drawback being that I have seen this product for sale through online retailers only and have never seen it in stores.  It retails for $16.00 for 30 ml and $28.00 for 75ml.   (Use code COMEBACK20OFF at to receive 20% off your order and free shipping on orders over $50.)  Also important to note that while the Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré is moisturizing it’s fairly light and guys and gals with very dry complexions may need something heavier.  All in all this product definitely wins my approval and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great morning moisturizer.  Granted this skincare product doesn’t promise anti-aging miracles or contain SPF, but I feel like sometimes less is more when it comes to skincare.  And if it’s been selling by the tube since 1950 they must be doing something right!  I hope you guys enjoyed this post and are having a wonderful week.  Leave me a comment below letting me know if you have tried this cult classic and what is your favorite moisturizer of the moment?  Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

travel makeup bag
lip set

Ughhh, going back to work this morning was rough.  My soy chai tea latte was the only thing that got me through.  But seriously I hope you all had an amazing Memorial Day holiday and aren’t three day weekends just the best?!  If anyone knows of a petition I can sign to make this a thing count me in.  I had such a fun weekend and was able to catch up with a college roommate who was visiting from NYC.  Anyone that knows me knows I love to plan vacations, so our three days together were jam packed.  We went to the Florida Aquarium and had a meet and greet with penguins (#lifegoals), had a great dinner in St. Petersburg and went out Saturday night and had one too many, made some bad decisions…you know how those things go.  We had brunch at this adorable spot in Hyde Park called Oxford Exchange and Sunday afternoon we visited the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota.  It was so amazing to catch up with an old friend and we had such a blast.  So as you could probably tell we were movin and groovin and I needed a versatile makeup bag that could meet all my needs.  I mean packing makeup that is appropriate for a penguin meet and greet, but also a night out on the town….no small feat people.  Thus I thought I would share with you all the contents of my travel makeup bag, so keep reading to find out what I packed!

For the face I kept it very simple.  I love starting with the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in 'Nude' as my base because it's light and holds up great in the Florida heat.  Next I'll use my Physicians Formula Conceal RX Physicians Strength Concealer in 'Natural Light' to brighten up my under eyes and cover any blemishes (it's a great multitasker) and use my favorite setting powder, the Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 'Transparent' to set everything.  Next I'll bronze up my face with the NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna, pop on some MAC Powder Blush in 'Melba', and finish everything off with the LORAC Perfectly Lit Luminizing Powder on my cheekbones.  Guys, this MAC blush in Melba is amazing; it's a pinky peach matte shade and seriously goes with any makeup look.  If you don't own it you're missing out, just sayin.

eye makeup essentials
So for the eyes I try to bring very basic products and then throw in a great neutral palette that I can create a lot of looks with.  Enter the Coastal Scents Revealed Palette.  This palette is awesome, great quality, and only $19.95.  (Also a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palette!)  But first I like to prime my eyelids with the MicaBeauty Eye Primer and fill in my brows with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Ash.  For the rest of my eye makeup I'm sticking with my ride or dies.  We got the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Damsel to add some smokiness and for the lashes I love the Shu Uemura Eyelash CurlerClinique Bottom Lash Mascara, and the Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara for my top lashes.  For the last step I like to use my Benefit Cosmetics Eye Bright on my inner rim to brighten my eyes.

And now my favorite part, the lips.  Girl I got you with four awesome products.  We have this amazing MAC lipliner in 'Boldly Bare' that I like to apply all over my lips for a great nude hue.  A gorgeous pink gloss, the L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick in 101 Rose Melody, that is perfect for day time.  And a ruby red pair in the form of YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain in #20 and Sephora Collection Nano Lipliner in 'Real Red' to make a statement lip at night.  And once this stain is on your lips it's not coming off so you don't have to worry about your lipstick coming off at dinner.

So what did you think?  I tried to keep the products versatile and trimmed down, but still wanted to give myself some options.  And for those of you who are wondering, the adorable New York makeup bag featured in this post was a present from my Aunt.  I believed she purchased it at Pottery Barn.  It was seriously one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever gotten because she knows how much I love NYC and it’s definitely my favorite makeup bag in my collection.  (It also has an adorable pinstriped lining!)  I will even be using it again in a couple weeks when I fly up to visit my friend in NYC.  See it really all comes full circle people, are we sensing the NYC theme??  Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week.  May caffeine, dreams of the weekend, and white wine get us through.

it cosmetics CC cream light

The search is over.  Ladies and gentleman, boy have I found the perfect base for summer.  Last month my friend was visiting from New York and raving about the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream.  I had tried several products from the It Cosmetics line, and loved them all, but did I really need another face product?  Probably not, but this looked so gorgeous and natural on her skin that I had to try it out for myself.  I can now officially say I am in love and this checks all the boxes of what I look for in a summer base.  It's lightweight, sweat proof, provides more coverage than a tinted moisturizer and most importantly looks natural on the skin.   (And it should if it says “your skin but better” in it's name!)  An added bonus is that it has SPF 50 built in.  So while we're traipsing around looking gorgeous this summer we're also protecting our skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays and preventing wrinkles.  Keep reading to find out more about this weeks Friday Favorite and my new favorite base...

You can purchase the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better  CC Cream at Ulta and on  I purchased mine from the brands website when they were offering 25% off and free shipping.  (Currently you can enter code MEMORIAL to receive free shipping and a complimentary gift set.) This CC cream comes in five shades ranging from "Fair” to “Rich" and retails for $38.00 for 1.08oz.  I went with the shade “Light” and found this to be a perfect color match for my skintone.  I could go on and on about the benefits of this product, but I think the It Cosmetic's product description says it best...

“Developed with leading plastic surgeons, Your Skin But Better® CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+ is truly a multi-tasking beauty miracle. It’s your SPF 50+ UVA/UVB Physical only sunscreen that protects against the rays that both burn your skin and age your skin. CC+™ is infused with cutting edge Anti-Aging technology and is clinically proven to improve skin texture, brightness and increase skin hydration by 79%. The Anti-Aging hydrating formula is infused with Peptides, Niacin, Algae, Vitamins A, C, B, E, Hyaluronic Acid and Hydrolyzed Collagen along with Antioxidants and exotic natural botanicals for long-term brightening and color-correcting benefits.”

it cosmetics CC cream pump

Whewww…so basically this baby is chock full of everything you could want and more.  I love the idea of wearing face makeup that is multi-tasking, and this provides coverage, sun protection, and an anti-aging serum all in one.  Hey, if we’re going to put something on our face everyday it might as well be giving us some added benefits, right?  This product had great staying power for me and lasted well over eight hours without fading or oxidizing.  (And that’s saying something since I live in Florida and it’s a sauna down here.)  You only need a tiny bit to achieve great coverage, but this CC cream does layer well if you are looking to build up to full coverage.  Although this product is hydrating, I would still recommend using a moisturizer underneath.  I like to wash my face in the morning, moisturize with my new obsession, the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, and then after giving that a chance to sink in I like to buff the CC cream onto my skin with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush.  I find with this product it is important to exfoliate, and may not work well for ladies with dry skin.  If I hadn’t exfoliated I noticed the CC cream clinging to some of my dry patches and dragging a bit.

it cosmetics cc cream before & after
Me on the left at 5:45 am, hating life and looking like grim death with absolutely no makeup on.  On the right, with one pump of the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream, you can tell what great coverage it has!

The packaging is pretty basic, but I like the pump design and was surprised by how little product you need to cover your entire face, I need one pump at most.  This product would be perfect for individuals with sensitive skin who don't want to wear a heavy foundation, but are looking for more coverage than a tinted moisturizer.  Every time I wear this product I get compliments on my skin and people tell me how flawless and glowing my complexion looks.  I am so happy I took the plunge and gave this product a try.  As I said earlier I have loved everything I have used from the It Cosmetics line and would highly recommend giving their products a go.  They have a fabulous brush line that is exclusively sold at Ulta and I also love their Vitality Lip Stains and Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer.  Have you tried the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC cream?  Anything else you would recommend from the It Cosmetics brand?  What is your favorite base for summer?  I want to know!  Leave me a comment below and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend :)
