FRIDAY FAVORITE: Go-to Yoga

Yoga Mat Yogalosophy Body by Bethenny

Sometimes I can't drag myself out of the house in these winter months, or I feel bad leaving my dog and going to the gym, or I did my hair and don't feel like doing a workout that makes me sweat and in turn I have to shower and ruin said hair. All reasons why I love me some yoga.  In addition to all the other benefits we reap like stress relief, stretching, and being one with the universe.  But for reals, yoga has become such a big part of my life in recent years and I love it as something to mix up my workouts during the week. I notice a big difference in my body's flexibility and strength and there's just something about using your own body's weight to tone and work your muscles that I love and feels much more natural to me than pumping that iron. (As much as I aspire to be Arnold Schwarzenegger, it's just not in the cards for me.) So for this weeks Friday Favorite I have compiled four of my favorite go-to yoga workouts. All are under 40 minutes and I love each one for different reasons. I included DVD's in addition to a couple of my favorite YouTube videos, to ensure there were some gratis options for you guys.  I hope you enjoy this post and if you are interested in more fitness related posts in the future please let me know in the comments below!

Bethenny Frankel is my home girl, and can do no wrong in my book. Her tenacity, fiery personality, and entrepreneurial skills just resonate with me. But whether you love her or hate her on RHONY this DVD still rocks. Paired with celebrity yoga instructor Kristin McGee Bethenny leads us through a 40 minute yoga sequence that hits every muscle group in the body. Of the four featured I would have to say this one is my favorite and feels the most complete to me as far as tackling every body part and balancing flow exercises with relaxation stretches. Also included is a 10 mintue strength training segment and a five minute bonus booty blast.  And it’s only $9 right now on Amazon!

Mandy Ingber is a beast.  This woman is jacked and it is no wonder she is Jennifer Aniston's trainer as she delivers an engaging workout sequence paired with a witty and engaging personality.  This DVD offers an express workout that is 35 minutes along with a 55 minute "fully loaded challenge.”  I usually do the shorter one and it's jam packed with a bunch of strength training moves and really works the legs and "seat" area, as it is politely called.   This DVD can also be purchased on Amazon and is around $10.

This is probably the most strenuous yoga sequence of the four.  It will get that heart pumping, let me tell ya.  Mandy Ingber pairs with POPSUGAR to provide a 30 minute fat blasting workout as part of their countdown to a bikini body collection.  This is a great full body sequence and although it’s challenging they offer modifications for every skill level throughout.  This workout differs from the others in that it focuses on the “flow” of movement, thus you’re not holding and resting in poses, you’re constantly moving.  Hence all the heart pumping.  But for a quick and efficient workout this is a great choice.

Yoga For Weight Loss - 40 Minute Fat Burning Yoga Workout!

If you are at all interested in getting into yoga as an everyday thing or as your main source of fitness this will be your jam.  Adriene is adorable, passionate, funny, and watching her makes you think if you met her in real life you would instantly be besties.  She offers soooo many awesome yoga videos on her YouTube channel including  yoga sequences for all levels, instructional videos, and annually she does a 30 day yoga challenge.  One of my favorites is her 40 minute fat burning workout as featured above.  It's the perfect difficulty level for me when I'm feeling kind of mehhh but still want to get a workout in and let me tell you this one is an ab killer.  She also has a funky "hurdle" move in this video that I have such a love/hate relationship with.  Seriously go check this darling out.

And that's it, my top four go-to yoga workouts. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling pretty inspired right now to get my zen on. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
xoxo Nicole

  7. You know I love my Yoga with Adriene! Seriously everyone single one of her videos is so good (I've probably done all of them at least once). I don't really like to just do yoga for the workout all the time, so some of her more restorative ones are good too - omg the bedtime yoga is a literal lifesaver some nights. I can't recommend the 30 day challenge highly enough!
