BOXYCHARM JANUARY 2015

boxy charm january 2015

It’s that time of the month again and my BOXYCHARM is here!  Ahh who knew such a little package could bring so much joy.  If this is the first you're hearing about BOXYCHARM it’s a monthly beauty subscription box similar to Ipsy Bag or Birchbox and it’s $21 a month.  If you’re interested in learning more you can visit BOXYCHARM’s website HERE and also visit my old post HERE explaining more about the service.  Now onto the goodies…

tarte maracuja bronzing serum
The item I was most excited about in this month’s box was Tarte’s Marajuca Bronzing Serum.  I have heard such great things about the whole Marajuca line and this baby is full size at 1.7 oz and retails for $47.00.  This is pitched as a hydrating face oil to be used in replacement for your moisturizer delivering a gradual and “radiant” tan.  The instruction suggest rubbing two to three drops on the face and skin daily to build a gradual tan, but  I may try this on my body first.  I’m always wary of breakouts using oils on my sensitive skin, but I will definitely report back.  And one last thing…this smells amazing!  Like a mango on a dessert island with a whiff of coconut.  Yeah, that good.

Next I spotted these metallic Pur-Lisse Skin Sparkle Flash Tattos retailing at $12.00.  Considering these probably aren’t in my office dress code I don’t know how much use I’ll get out of them, but hey if I go to Coachella this year these are going in the bag.  Between the tattoos and the purple hair chalk a couple months ago is this BOXYCHARM’s way of telling me I need to get out more?

A lip duo that came in the box this month was a Beauty For Real True Color Lip Cream in “Always There” and a Beauty For Real The Perfect Pencil.  I wanted to like these soo bad, but they stunk.  The lip liner was a very drying pencil and hard to apply and the lip cream bled and feathered like crazy on my lips.  I’ll try again, but my first impression wasn’t the greatest.  I’m bummed because the color is very pretty, it’s a wearable rosy red and the cream left behind a very flattering ruby stain.  The liner retails for $14.00 and the lip cream at $22.00  Both can be found at www.beautyforreal.com

The packaging on this is awesome tho! A light and mirror built into my lipgloss? Yes please.

And lastly was the Mirabella Face Primer, a 0.45 oz full-size product retailing for $29.00.  This is advertised as a vitamin-E infused primer that minimizes the appearance of fine lines and large pores.  I am usually not a big primer girl, just because I don’t really like the idea of putting an extra layer of makeup on my skin and my products usually have pretty good staying power on their own.  This had an odd watery Vaseline like texture and after applying to my hand it took a while to dry down, and once it did it looked very shiny.  If you have oily skin I would not recommend this product, but could see it working well for dry skin gals.

And that’s everything in my bag this month!  Let me know what you think, and leave me a comment below if you have tried any of these products, I would love to hear your thoughts.  Ughh is it Friday yet?  That three day weekend went by too soon.  Hope you all are having a wonderful week!

  2. Curious about that Tarte bronzing serum! I really like my Clarins tanning drops that you just add to any moisturizer, it doesn't irritate my skin at all!
