body shop shea body scrub

Ahh the winter months are upon us.  And along with Christmas carols and sleigh rides in the snow, dry, itchy & flaky skin has a way of creeping in during this season.  Although I know dry skin is not a problem for everyone, and I have to say my dry skin is undoubtedly better in sunny Florida than blizzardy New York, I can still always use a great body scrub.  Body scrubs are great for sloughing off dead skin cells, they allow your skin to better absorb moisture from lotions and creams, and they help with ingrown hairs and those pesky red dots that sometimes show up on my legs.  (Does anyone else have this problem?) So for this week’s Friday Favorite I am going to be featuring the Body Shop’s Shea Body Scrub.  This scrub contains exfoliating salt grains and organic sugar in a soybean oil based formula that has a delicious light and fresh scent.  This product has a very creamy and thick texture, and is rough enough to provide good exfoliation, but yet gentle enough if you have sensitive skin and would work great for all skin types.  I love that this product exfoliates and moisturizes my skin at the same time, and if your skin isn’t too dry you could do without moisturizing afterwards.  A little goes a long way with this scrub and if I use it once a week a full tub will usually last me around two months.  I think it’s important to also note that when you rinse it off at first you will notice an almost "oily" residue from the soy oil but it absorbs super quickly and by the time you towel dry you will not feel any kind of residue on the skin.  You can use your hand to apply this or I love using an exfoliating shower mitt as pictured below.  I picked mine up at Sephora, but similar items I love are HEREHERE, and HERE.  This scrub retails for $20.00 for 7.9 oz, but if you just want to try it out they also make a travel size scrub priced at $6.00 for 1.65 oz.  I also love to follow my scrub up with a decadent Body Shop Body Butter, my favorite scents being Satsuma and Strawberry.  With a knock out duo like that, dry skin won't know what hit it.
