Josie Maran Haul
From Left: Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk, Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee & Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eyeshadow

I have always been a big fan of the Josie Maran brand and think they offer great all natural and cruelty free products.  Well we all know Ms. Maran started it all with the Argan oil, but my how the brand has expanded since its inception.  Wanting to branch out from some of the staples I love I went ahead and purchased the three products seen above.

Josie Maran Hydrating Milk

This Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment is definitely going in the vault as an all-time favorite.  I just can’t say enough good things about it.  I want you to put oil on your face you say? Yes!  The way the Sephora saleswoman explained this to me is that by putting oil on your skin the face produces less oil on it’s own because it is getting it from the product.  Thus even if you don’t have dry skin and have oily skin you can benefit, and maybe even more so from a face oil. As the Josie Maran website states, “This revolutionary treatment serum pairs the deep hydration of purified water with skin-rejuvenating micro-droplets of Josie’s 100% Pure Argan Oil."  What I love about this is it is basically a diluted version of the basic Argan oil.  For those of us who felt that product was too heavy, this is perfect because it’s tailored for the face, works great under makeup, and leaves a nice glow to the skin.  (I tried using the original Argan oil under makeup=disaster.)  Within a couple weeks of using it I definitely noticed a decrease in the amount of black heads on the sides of my nose and chin area.  I like to use this in the morning under my makeup and squeeze three to four droplets on the back of my hand, then pat it onto the skin.  The Josie Maran website recommends following this with their Pure Argan oil or Pure Argan oil light, I personally feel this step is completely unnecessary.  Unless you are an Eskimo in Alaska, trust me this should be enough hydration for you.  I would highly recommend this to everyone, but if you are still on the fence go to your local Sephora and ask for a sample of this product to try it out.
Retails for $56.oo for 2 fl oz.

Josie maran coconut watercolor cheek gelee

Next I branched out and tried the coconut watercolor cheek gelee in poppy paradise.  This is advertised as a hydrating cheek stain containing pure coconut water, 100% argan oil, and vitamin E for added nourishment.  The product also promises 14 hours of wear.  I have not personally worn it for 14 hours (who is wearing their blush this long?) but I will say it does have great staying power.  I like applying this product with a stippling brush, dipping the brush right into the pot and then buffing it onto the cheeks.  And a little goes a long way.  I also find this works great as a lip stain, and love the color it gives, a somewhat vibrant pinky red.  But I will say I would recommend using a lip brush, because if you use your finger it will stain and even when you try to clean it off with a makeup wipe it will still be there, trust from experience.  So overall I think this is a great product, but I don’t find myself reaching for it as much as I thought I would, probably because it just takes a little more effort and time to apply than a powder blush.
Retails for $22.00 for 0.18oz.

Josie Maran coconut watercolor eyeshadow

And lastly I grabbed one of the coconut watercolor eyeshadows in Playa del Pink.  I have heard so many good things about these shadows and just had to try them out.  There are things I like about this product and things I dislike.  First the pros: the eyeshadow has good color payoff, it’s very easy to apply and there are some great colors in the range.  The eyeshadow comes in this little dropper bottle which you have to shake before using.  With the felt tip applicator, I dot a little shadow on each eye and blend. (This is also another one where a little goes a long way.)  The cons: the staying power on this is not great.  If I don’t wear a primer under this eyeshadow it has all, but disappeared by lunchtime.  If I do wear a primer the staying power is much better but I still notice it fading throughout the day.  Also I do like the color but I expected it to be more vibrant or to have more of a pop.  You can easily replicate these colors with powder shadows, which was disappointing to me because I was hoping this would produce a different look being it’s coconut water based.  So is it a cool and different product? Yes.  Would I purchase more? Probably not.

Retails for $18.00 for 0.16 fl oz.
